BENEFITS OF SEA SALT
Sea salt, derived from evaporated seawater, is full of minerals beneficial to the skin.
Gently rubbing the skin in circular motions with a salt scrub removes dead skin cells. Dead skin cells harden with age and the longer they lie on the surface of the skin, the harder they get. This will cause the skin to become thicker and thicker until it is finally removed. Layers of dead skin cells can make the skin look dry and flaky; exfoliation with a salt scrub will help reveal the healthy skin hidden underneath.
The exfoliation process also invigorates the skin and helps to improve circulation and remove bacteria from the skin and unclog pores. Salt has antiseptic qualities, and when applied to the skin it may help kill bacteria and reduce swelling along with any itching.
With sandal season just around the corner, I thought we could discuss the causes of dead skin on the feet and what to do about it because no one wants scaly feet on the beach or in that perfect pair of open-toed shoes.
