SKINCARE FOR TEENS AND TWEENS

Knowing how to deal with skin care for teens and tweens can be difficult especially now with social media bombarding them with ads for all types of products.  But it is best to not create complicated skincare routines for this age group.  Skincare for this age group should not include active ingredients such as retinols, acids, and peptides.

Less is better.

A skincare routine should start somewhere between 9 and 13 years of age since this is most likely the time hormonal changes begin which can wreak havoc on the skin especially the face and leave young adolescents with possible anxiety and self-esteem issues dealing with blackheads, pimples, oily skin and/or dry patches.

The best skincare routine should include a gentle face wash and a light moisturizer.  Teens and tweens should wash their face twice daily especially is they participate in sports where sweat will only help to clog pores more.

Kosmatology’s Lemongrass face wash and moisturizing oil are the perfect combination for this age group.  The face wash is gentle but effective at removing dirt but also contains essential oils to support the complexion naturally and combat the causes of acne such as bacteria and overproduction of sebum.

The companion Lemongrass moisturizing oil contains the same essential oils as the face wash but also includes Chamomile and Calendula to calm the skin and reduce redness. The base is a mixture of Hemp Seed oil and Grapeseed oil which are very light and will not clog pores.

As with any good skincare routine, a good sunscreen is also a must.  Preventing sun damage from a young age will set up any child for better skin and less wrinkles as they get older.
